The Bex & Arts Triennial is a contemporary art exhibition first held in 1981 and now known for its unique format and boundary-pushing approach. Since 1981, it has taken place at Szilassy Park: an immersive, open-air setting where visitors can explore the landscaped grounds, take in the sculptures, installations and performances, and contemplate the relationship between art, nature and society.
Organised by the Bex & Arts Foundation, the Triennial provides a platform for visual artists to showcase their work to Switzerland and the world and to interact with practitioners from other disciplines. The Foundation champions contemporary creation, young talent, and natural and built heritage, bringing art to an area of the Alpine foothills shaped by an industrial past and undergoing social and economic transformation.
Since its inception, the Triennial – now gearing up for its 16th iteration – has hosted works by over 300 artists and built a reputation as one of Switzerland’s leading outdoor art events. By shining a spotlight on the powerful bond between art and nature, the event invites visitors from near and far to look again at the environment through fresh eyes.
