CEDRIC BREGNARD

Paysage alpin and Micro-paysage

Photographic print, ink, 2026

When the exhibition opens, the greyscale image of Paysage alpin is almost impossible to make out. But over the months, the work slowly comes to life: shadows deepen, contrasts sharpen and the landscape of Szilassy Park gradually emerges. Throughout the exhibition, Cedric Bregnard leads workshops in which participants help ink this large-scale participatory fresco by hand using black brush pens.

As the work evolves, it creates a direct connection between the park and the people passing through it – both local residents and those visiting from further afield. It thus serves as a record of our relationship with the elements and the natural environment – which also leave their own marks.

In his Micro-paysage series, Bregnard uses medical imaging to offer a glimpse into the interior world of seeds. Suspended against black backgrounds, their intricate structures reveal both the origins of the surrounding landscape and the strange, abstract beauty of life itself.

In his practice, Bregnard plays with shifts in scale and perspective, moving from panoramic views to tiny brushstrokes, from majestic trees to minuscule seeds. In doing so, he encourages us, as viewers, to look more closely at the world around us and give the natural environment that sustains us the attention and respect it deserves.

Cedric Bregnard (CH, b. 1974*) lives and works in Switzerland.
