Territories

12.06 — 25.10.2011

Artists, visitors and art professionals are invited to come together around the concept of TERRITORIES. This concept refers to questions of boundaries. To the concrete boundaries of Szilassy park, an English landscape garden built in the 19th century and strongly influenced by the Romantic spirit; and to the more intangible boundaries at the very heart of the history of art ‘in the making’. Indeed, if we consider that the term ‘sculpture’ encompasses different media, it becomes too narrow to encompass the diversity of current artistic practices, and the very territory of this word is fluctuating.

The exhibition is structured around these two axes: on the one hand, the garden, a mirror of our perception of nature and the setting for the exhibition, and on the other, a critical consideration of the notion of sculpture.
