Industria

01.06 — 31.10.2020

Industria is a polysemic term derived from the Latin words instruere (“to insert into, build, equip”) and industria (“activity”), which since the 18th century has characterised “the ability to produce”. It refers to any form of productive activity, including cultural, artistic and intellectual production. It forms the essence and starting point of the early avant-garde movements in architecture, art and design. These movements – including the Bauhaus and other innovative contemporary initiatives – developed their creativity in collaboration with the world of industry, anchoring their artistic expertise in the specific economic and social conditions of their time.
