1981 Exhibition
1981
In 1981, under the impetus of Aimé Desarzens, then mayor of Bex, the event received official support from the municipality and an organising committee was formed. It was at this point that the exhibition took on the name and format of a Triennial of Contemporary Sculpture.
The event then grew in scale and spread to several locations in Bex. Forty-five artists presented their works there. Alongside the sculptures, an exhibition of paintings by Frédéric Rouge was organised at the Town Hall, while another, dedicated to local painters, was held at the Galerie des Valentines.
Free recitals and concerts rounded off the programme, giving the event a broader artistic dimension and firmly establishing the identity of the Bex & Arts Triennial.
The 1981 and 1984 editions took place in several iconic locations around the town, including the Tour de Duin, Szilassy Park, Château Feuillet and the Town Hall, marking the first steps of a lasting artistic adventure: Bex & Arts.
